Sex and the city in Tampa Florida

So this blog is dedicated to those who were not there last weekend and were missed. We went to Tampa, FL, stayed with the Talmage sisters and had a wonderful weekend with some of our great friends. We also had the opportunity to meet a new friend whose name for now will be "Mr Topless Brunch" . We drove to Tampa on Friday after I got out of work, when we got there we drove directly to Byblios. Byblios is located right around the corner of our old Rubideux apartment. We met up with our wonderful friend Eric and enjoyed being submerged in culture and an amazing atmosphere. We then drove to R2 house for an amazing BBQ. For those who don't know, R2 is the nickname I gave to our friends and fabulous couple Rob and Rachele. We enjoyed great friends, good food, a few drinks and had a blast of a time. The only bad part was when the girls lost at a game of Scene it against the boys. (Thanks a lot Joe!!!). On Saturday we went to watch the England versus USA game at a wine bar called Cork. We tried to go to our usual spot "McDintons" but the line was out to the parking lot and a fire marshall was controlling the number of people due to the crowd. It was the most packed we had ever seen it! The energy for the World Cup was electric, neither Peter nor I knew so many people cared about soccer...but then again they might have not and just come out for the celebration. After Cork, Rob texted us a picture of a Natural Light tall boy from a nearby place....we understood that to mean it was a good place to be and so we headed down to meet him and some other friends at The Lodge. To conclude the night we went to Cine Bistro to watch our movie "Sex and the City" and of course Monica was "Carried away"!!! We enjoyed a good time until Monica and some others who will remain nameless got asked to leave the cinema because we were laughing and enjoying ourselves a little to much. I promise we were not doing anything wrong!. On Sunday we decided to go to Ceviche for a "Tapas Brunch" but our new friend Matt thought we had suggested a topless brunch. TAPAS.....TOPLESS ...I can see where he could have mixed it up! Sorry Matt :) Please enjoy the pictures of this weekend.

A special thanks to the sisters for their hospitality. A thanks to Bridget for giving us her bed. A thanks to R2 for the wonderful grill out. A thanks to Eric for the delicious treat and thanks to Matt and Lizzy for the tour of St. Pete!

The moral of the story: Don't answer your phone in the movies....even if its your husband!

A broom and the salt bottle

So we finally moved this weekend! How is it that we still have so much crap??? The move is really what inspired this blog story. I've been with Monica for some years now and during those years, we have had MANY moves, so I still don't now how Monica's superstitious "Colombian" beliefs still amuse me! According to Monica's family, when one moves, they leave behind the old broom and the bottle of salt. The reason is because you leave the bad luck from the old home (symbolized by the broom and salt bottle) and you buy new ones representing the good luck that will come in the new home. The funny part is that I can probably write a book regarding Monica and her family's superstitions (spiders, flies, pearls, dolls, glass breaking, the list goes on and on, but those other stories will be for future blogs). For now let's focus on the broom and the salt. It was our first night in the new place, monIca and I decided to grill out in celebration for a ha...

Gain or no Gain

So quick funny story.... It might be one of those "you had to be there stories" but I will try since it caused a lot of laughter for us. Last sunday we were at Sam's club buying our monthly stuff. We knew we needed detergent so we went to the cleaning aisle and looked for the gain detergent that we have been buying for many months now. It was such a great deal, we would get 133 onz for a little over 9 dollars. That's many many many loads of laundry. So as we walked down the aisle, I realized Peter had overlooked our great "gain" bottle. I yelled down the aisle "Pete it's right here, this is the one". Peter turns and smiles, holding in the laughter. He then said, well....now I know why our detergent has been sooooooo inexpensive. He then continued by saying, look at the bottle a little closer. We had been using the same bottle for such a long time now that I felt I knew every color, every letter, felt like a could describe the handle...
