Our "Carrie and Big" Wedding

Once upon a time......just kidding! Yesterday June 18, 2010 Peter and Monica got re-married. Let me tell you the reasons that led to this event. We have been waiting for our DR marriage certificate for a month now and after many calls and e-mails down there, we have realized that the marriage certificate might take awhile. No big deal.....however, at Monica's work she is already known as Monica Mennite and her work license is still under Monica Mejia. So you can start imagining the conflict. Medicaid, medicare, etc were really giving the practice problems about the whole name issue. For all those smarty pants out there, a marriage certificate is needed to change your name and the catholic certificate does not suffice!
The patient referrals were on hold until Monica filled out some paperwork and what name would she use. Monica decided to keep her maiden name for professional reasons, however, Peter quickly came up with a plan! Why not just get re-married, this time in the USA and in a courthouse! Monica had to jazz it up of course!So on the spur of the moment we tried to re-create "LOVE FEST 2010" ! (Our DR wedding is also known as LOVE FEST 2010 LOL) Monica used Amanda's veil as her something borrowed, she wore a polka dot dress, she wore her wedding shoes as her something blue, and Peter wore his wedding tie. We took off our rings, purchased some flowers and headed to Albany's courthouse to get married. After vows and a few tears (Yes Peter cried again), we were Re-married!
So now it's really official

Our senior citizen puppies

We have used this blog for almost 2 years now to keep our loved ones informed of the events in our life. We have always been able to share happy moments, great memories, and good times in our life. This post is a little different than the usual ones. Monopoly and Jaxon have been a part of our lives for a long long time. Monopoly turns 9 in a few weeks and Jax turns 11 in May. Although our pups love to play (Monopoly mostly with humans and jaxy pretty much wants to play with anything or anyone at anytime)they don't have major medical problems, eat and go to the bathroom normally, we still knew that soon the boys would start entering their "older age". About 2 weeks ago, Monopoly started acting extremely out of character. A broom and the salt bottle

So we finally moved this weekend! How is it that we still have so much crap??? The move is really what inspired this blog story. I've been with Monica for some years now and during those years, we have had MANY moves, so I still don't now how Monica's superstitious "Colombian" beliefs still amuse me! According to Monica's family, when one moves, they leave behind the old broom and the bottle of salt. The reason is because you leave the bad luck from the old home (symbolized by the broom and salt bottle) and you buy new ones representing the good luck that will come in the new home. The funny part is that I can probably write a book regarding Monica and her family's superstitions (spiders, flies, pearls, dolls, glass breaking, the list goes on and on, but those other stories will be for future blogs).
