Halloween Weekend

Halloween 2010
This year we decided to dress up as Alice in Wonderland characters, the mad hatter and the queen of hearts. I was very excited to do Peter's make up and even did a practice round to make sure I created the best work possible. Albany, GA is not a very big "halloween" celebrating place and although we had originally planned to go to Tampa, the final decision was just to stay home. Saturday morning we woke up early and went to complete a 5K. We later dressed up the dogs and waited for the trick or treaters, who came on Saturday instead of Sunday, because Sunday is extremely sacred day for this community. Peter and I also dressed up to greet the trick or treaters and then later that evening we went to a Mexican restaurant to have dinner and participate in the costume contest. Given the fact, that there is only 1 "costume rental" store, no Party City, no Spirit store, I figured our chances of winning were pretty high :). I was right, Peter won best costume and as the prize we got 11 CDs which appeared to be previously owned and of bands neither one of us even knew about...ohh and we also got a coozie! We indeed live in a very unique place. Please enjoy the pictures of Halloween and our 5K run.

Moral of the story: If you have some money for investing, you should invest and start a halloween store in Albany, GA, you would become a Millionaire!

  1. The crown I am wearing was the actual crown my mom was crowned with in 1977 when she became the coffee queen in Colombia!

  2. I almost peed my pants when I read the line about your "winnings" at the costume contest - hilarious!

A broom and the salt bottle

So we finally moved this weekend! How is it that we still have so much crap??? The move is really what inspired this blog story. I've been with Monica for some years now and during those years, we have had MANY moves, so I still don't now how Monica's superstitious "Colombian" beliefs still amuse me! According to Monica's family, when one moves, they leave behind the old broom and the bottle of salt. The reason is because you leave the bad luck from the old home (symbolized by the broom and salt bottle) and you buy new ones representing the good luck that will come in the new home. The funny part is that I can probably write a book regarding Monica and her family's superstitions (spiders, flies, pearls, dolls, glass breaking, the list goes on and on, but those other stories will be for future blogs). For now let's focus on the broom and the salt. It was our first night in the new place, monIca and I decided to grill out in celebration for a ha...

Our senior citizen puppies

We have used this blog for almost 2 years now to keep our loved ones informed of the events in our life. We have always been able to share happy moments, great memories, and good times in our life. This post is a little different than the usual ones. Monopoly and Jaxon have been a part of our lives for a long long time. Monopoly turns 9 in a few weeks and Jax turns 11 in May. Although our pups love to play (Monopoly mostly with humans and jaxy pretty much wants to play with anything or anyone at anytime)they don't have major medical problems, eat and go to the bathroom normally, we still knew that soon the boys would start entering their "older age". About 2 weeks ago, Monopoly started acting extremely out of character. For those who know "M Junior" (M Junior or MJ is one of Monopoly's many nicknames, Junior because he is Monica's junior) know that he is extremely smart, extremely verbal, a little socially awkward, socially phobic and never ever e...
