APPLE......NOT!!!!

We want to start this blog by thanking all of you for the wonderful gifts and giftcards. Without all your generosity and kindness, today's events would have not transpired. So again, thank you for all those wonderful wedding gifts.
To continue with today's story... We wanted to use our giftcards and wedding money to purchase the remaining items of our registry. As you all know, we love food, we love to cook and host parties; therefore it has been very exciting to us to be able to get those "new toys" that will help in starting our new home. The problem is that in the tiny town we live at, there is no Bed, Bath and Beyond. The closest one is Columbus, GA, which is about 1 hr away. So this morning we got up and drove to Columbus in hopes to purchase some goodies. We also decided that we needed to purchase a new computer, specially because it would really help Monica in her new job and be a benefit for me in school. Our desktop computer no longer turns on and our labtop computer is ancient. I also finally was able to convince Monica to go for a MAC, it would of have been a done deal awhile ago if MAC only made pink computers! Monica was very excited to get the new computer, she had been planning the entire drive all the things she was going to do on it. (Oh just to inform you, this town does not have a Best Buy or an Apple store either). So we finally arrive to Best Buy in Columbus, we walk down to the computer section and start the search for our new laptop, but we don't seem to find Apple products. Figures, that this would be my fate and that the only Best Buy around us would not have apple products! So no computer for us today. As we are exiting the door, I look at Monica and I see her grin. I know exactly what she is thinking and what she wants to say but she stays quiet. I know she is trying not to say "I told you so". Finally as we walk out she says "Today's blog's moral will be, don't listen to Peter!" and then she smiles. The reason she says this is because, I really had Monica convinced about the MAC a few weeks ago, and as you all know when Monica gets excited about something she is ready to pursue immediatly, so that day (the day I convinced her to go with MAC) she said "OK, I'm sold, let's order it" and I told her "no, let's wait and go get it from Best Buy sometime next week"! Figures, that out of all the Best Buys probably of the world, mine would not carry Apple!
So today's moral of the story accorsing to Monica is "Don't listen to Peter" and the moral of the story according to Peter is "Call the store before you go".
The continuation of this blog will soon be posted, the title will be "Bed Bath and Beyond Shopping Spree"

A broom and the salt bottle

So we finally moved this weekend! How is it that we still have so much crap??? The move is really what inspired this blog story. I've been with Monica for some years now and during those years, we have had MANY moves, so I still don't now how Monica's superstitious "Colombian" beliefs still amuse me! According to Monica's family, when one moves, they leave behind the old broom and the bottle of salt. The reason is because you leave the bad luck from the old home (symbolized by the broom and salt bottle) and you buy new ones representing the good luck that will come in the new home. The funny part is that I can probably write a book regarding Monica and her family's superstitions (spiders, flies, pearls, dolls, glass breaking, the list goes on and on, but those other stories will be for future blogs). For now let's focus on the broom and the salt. It was our first night in the new place, monIca and I decided to grill out in celebration for a ha...

Gain or no Gain

So quick funny story.... It might be one of those "you had to be there stories" but I will try since it caused a lot of laughter for us. Last sunday we were at Sam's club buying our monthly stuff. We knew we needed detergent so we went to the cleaning aisle and looked for the gain detergent that we have been buying for many months now. It was such a great deal, we would get 133 onz for a little over 9 dollars. That's many many many loads of laundry. So as we walked down the aisle, I realized Peter had overlooked our great "gain" bottle. I yelled down the aisle "Pete it's right here, this is the one". Peter turns and smiles, holding in the laughter. He then said, well....now I know why our detergent has been sooooooo inexpensive. He then continued by saying, look at the bottle a little closer. We had been using the same bottle for such a long time now that I felt I knew every color, every letter, felt like a could describe the handle...
