Tahiti and her islands was absolutely amazing, the beauty of that place cannot be expressed with any words. The entire experience is majestic, one of a kind, and breathtaking. Although, I think everyone should see this part of the world at some point in their lives, I advice you to be prepared....be very prepared LOL! Ok, let me explain, when you plan to visit tahiti, make sure you take certain things under consideration. First of all take mosquito repellant, unless you want to buy a small bottle there for the sum of 30 american dollars. Also, I suggest that you either decide to go on a very strict diet or have someone else's credit card before you go. The reason is that for a good old american regular cheeseburger and about the equivalent of a small portion of McDonald's fries, you will be charged about 26 dollars.....and no, thats not for 2, that only for 1!
Being the wife of a wine guy, I have had the privilege of tasting amazing wines from around the world, so you can understand my shock when Peter decided to forgo ordering wine (glass or bottle) after reading the wine list of our hotel, of the restaurants and even of the local grocery store. To give you a more specific example, a bottle of Woodbridge chardnney, which in the states is sold for about $7 a bottle was sold in Bora Bora for $65. This seriously was the cheapest wine we saw listed during our entire trip.
Tahiti and her islands is a place to go relax, de-stress, and fall in love all over again! Just remember it's deathly expensive, so take snacks, maybe pack a few bottles of wine (or your drink of choose), load up on sunblock and mosquito repellant and prepare to disconnect yourself from your phone, e-mail, and Facebook. It's a one in a kind life experience, the colors of the water, the stars at night, the purity of the land is like nothing you will see before.
Moral of the story: Visit Tahiti and her islands at some point in your lives, buy at least one black pearl while you are there, especially because this is where they are created (black pearls are more unique than diamonds), try a Hinano (official beer of tahiti), brush up on your french prior to going and make sure to snorkel (this is rated one of the most amazing places to snorkel). Please enjoy some pics of our 1st Mennite Anniversary pictures.
