Lizzy's 30th Bday

My friend Lizzy turned 30 and for this milestone birthday she decided to celebrate the last weekend of her 20's at the Keys. So a good number of friends got together to celebrate this joyous occasion. The drive down was no fun (Thanks Bridget for driving! ;)), but once we got there it was very worth it!. I was very happy to be able to celebrate this occasion, see some good friends and also I was able to see my lovely parents. They drove down for the night and I got to hug my beautiful mommy. The only sad part was that Petey was not able to make it, but I took some good pictures to capture the moment. The weekend was full of good and unforgettable moments. We went bike riding through key west ..... yes you heard right, I drove a bike through streets. I was actually glad Peter was not there at that moment because he would of made me wear knee pads and a helmet. I played it cool and did not fall on my face... I was very proud of my bike riding skills. For those of you who do not know, I am the worst bicycle driving!!! We ate key lime pie, went sun bathing, went to the southern most point in the USA, had a brief encounter with the meanest and most unhappy bachlorette EVER, went to very interesting bars (the one that stands out the most was the naked bar), and no we did not get naked (it was clothing optional!) I almost got Matt (recall our topless brunch friend mentioned in previous blogs) kicked out because I asked him to take a picture of us while in the naked bar, apparently I missed the million signs saying "NO PICTURES ALLOWED"! (oops!!!). The weekend went by so fast, but it was great to celebrate the birth of one of my great friends! Cheers to you Lizzy! Please enjoy some of the pics from the weekend.

Moral of the story: Please read the signs when you enter a bar that IDs you 3 times before letting you in!

A broom and the salt bottle

So we finally moved this weekend! How is it that we still have so much crap??? The move is really what inspired this blog story. I've been with Monica for some years now and during those years, we have had MANY moves, so I still don't now how Monica's superstitious "Colombian" beliefs still amuse me! According to Monica's family, when one moves, they leave behind the old broom and the bottle of salt. The reason is because you leave the bad luck from the old home (symbolized by the broom and salt bottle) and you buy new ones representing the good luck that will come in the new home. The funny part is that I can probably write a book regarding Monica and her family's superstitions (spiders, flies, pearls, dolls, glass breaking, the list goes on and on, but those other stories will be for future blogs). For now let's focus on the broom and the salt. It was our first night in the new place, monIca and I decided to grill out in celebration for a ha...

Gain or no Gain

So quick funny story.... It might be one of those "you had to be there stories" but I will try since it caused a lot of laughter for us. Last sunday we were at Sam's club buying our monthly stuff. We knew we needed detergent so we went to the cleaning aisle and looked for the gain detergent that we have been buying for many months now. It was such a great deal, we would get 133 onz for a little over 9 dollars. That's many many many loads of laundry. So as we walked down the aisle, I realized Peter had overlooked our great "gain" bottle. I yelled down the aisle "Pete it's right here, this is the one". Peter turns and smiles, holding in the laughter. He then said, well....now I know why our detergent has been sooooooo inexpensive. He then continued by saying, look at the bottle a little closer. We had been using the same bottle for such a long time now that I felt I knew every color, every letter, felt like a could describe the handle...
